Mary’s Experience

“Dr. Hutmaker is a skilled and compassionate professional.  With her deep knowledge of veterinary medicine and her in-depth study of alternative medical practices she understands the type of intervention that is best for a furry patient.  We have taken our many pets to different vets over the years, and have found her to be head and shoulders above her competitors in terms of her ability, skill and empathy.  With our older pets and those who have had serious medical problems I have found her services to be particularly valuable. I highly recommend Dr. Hutmaker to pet owners seeking alternative medical relief – and acupuncture in particular – for their pets’ medical issues.” – Mary Kaczmarek

 Sadie

“Our 14 year old German Shepherd, Sadie was diagnosed with inoperable cancer and Degenerative Myelopathy, a disease of the spinal cord which results in paralysis, in April 2008. We were told by an oncologist that Sadie had approximately 6 months to live. After consulting with Dr. Hutmaker, we decided the best course of action was to keep her as comfortable as possible with the time she had left. We started Sadie on a combination of acupuncture and physical rehabilitation. Within 3 months she was walking on her own again. She was happy and as bright as ever. Unfortunately there is no cure for Degenerative Myelopathy, but Sadie was proof that acupuncture dramatically slowed down the progression before she finally succumbed to the disease at 16 years old. The 6 month window the oncologist gave Sadie turned into 2 ½ years because of the care and love that Dr. Hutmaker showed her. She treated Sadie like she was one of her own.

We are extremely grateful to Dr. Hutmaker for giving us the extra years with Sadie that we would have never had. We also thank her for the emotional support she gave us during those years. She even checked on us periodically after Sadie passed. She’s truly an amazing person. We highly recommend Dr. Hutmaker to anyone that has a “four legged” family member.” – Tim & Christee McCarthy

Concho

“Dr Hutmaker was my senior dog, Concho’s, vet from the time she was about 9 until she passed at 15. She was a 100 lb pit bull who had been very active her whole life until around 12. She developed arthritis in her knees from age/surgeries in her youth. Dr. Hutmaker started giving her acupuncture bi-weekly around 12 yrs old. I wanted to try that versus masking her pain with pain killers.

The first few times Concho didn’t seem too impressed, but Dr. Hutmaker’s gentle nature always made Concho trust her so she would stay still and patient during treatments. After about 3 months Concho would go straight down the hall to the treatment room, go in and lay down.  She obviously knew it helped her. She continued acupuncture bi-weekly up to 1 month before her passing.

I saw the benefits first hand of Dr. Hutmaker’s amazing connection with the animal and the trust and lack of fear in my dog when she treated her. And the mobility increase and decrease in stiffness was more than obvious. When we were coming up on the 2 week mark, I could see her moving less and more stiffly.

I would recommend Dr. Hutmaker doing acupuncture on any pet that needs help.” – Nikki Thompson
